Static IP Address – A static IP address is an assigned global IP address by your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to your cable modem (your Internet connection). This will insure the same IP address every time the modem connects to the Internet service.
When installing your Camper Cams system, it is important to know whether you have a static or dynamic IP address. The networking functionality of the NVR (Network Video Recorder) allows you to make a remote connection to your system over the Internet so that you can control the system and view your cameras remotely.
By obtaining a static IP address at your camp location, you will always be able to connect to your camera system remotely using the same IP address. If you have a dynamic IP address, things are a little bit more complicated because you never know when your IP address is going to be changed by your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
You can contact your ISP to find out if there is a static IP address already assigned to your account or if you simply need to add one.
